This publication examines the sexual exploitation of children in the context of travel and tourism, highlighting its links to trafficking for sexual purposes. Funded by the United States Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office), the study explores this often-overlooked global issue and presents country-level responses, including in Costa Rica. It outlines international trends and practices, and reviews cases of offenders prosecuted in the United States under legislation targeting the sexual exploitation of children abroad. This resource offers insights for practitioners addressing the exploitation affecting children in Costa Rica in the context of travel and tourism.
