This publication analyzes the multiple risks of violence, including human trafficking, to which female migrant workers are exposed in several countries from different world regions, including Costa Rica. It aims to enhance the knowledge base and to support the development of practical tools for protecting and promoting the rights of female migrant workers. Based on case studies, the paper focuses on the situation of women and girls involved in labor migration in different settings, including family, workplaces, communities, and societies, and also on the policy and program initiatives implemented by government institutions, private employment agencies, and other relevant actors. Findings and recommendations can assist anti-trafficking practitioners in origin, transit, and destination countries to protect the rights of adult and child female migrant workers through the different stages of migration processes.
