La trata de personas y el tráfico ilícito de migrantes son delitos que están presentes en el país. En los últimos años ha ido develándose su magnitud y gravedad, tras haberse descubierto casos de trata de personas con fines de explotación sexual y laboral y casos de tráfico ilícito de migrantes de otros países de la región e incluso de otros continentes, que demandaron grandes esfuerzos para llevar a cabo la investigación criminal y para brindar una atención adecuada a sus víctimas. Conscientes de la gravedad de ambos delitos y de la necesidad de fortalecer los esfuerzos por desarrollar estrategias preventivas en las comunidades y de mejorar la respuesta institucional, la Fundación PANIAMOR ejecuta el Proyecto “Hacia una sociedad unida contra la trata de personas y el tráfico ilícito de migrantes”, el cual es cofinanciado por la organización internacional Save the Children y la Unión Europea.

Human trafficking and smuggling of migrants are crimes that are present in the country. In recent years, the magnitude and seriousness of these crimes has been revealed, after the discovery of cases of human trafficking for sexual and labor exploitation and cases of smuggling of migrants from other countries in the region and even from other continents, which demanded great efforts to carry out criminal investigations and to provide adequate attention to their victims. Aware of the seriousness of both crimes and the need to strengthen efforts to develop preventive strategies in the communities and improve the institutional response, the PANIAMOR Foundation is implementing the Project “Towards a united society against human trafficking and smuggling of migrants”, which is co-financed by the international organization Save the Children and the European Union.
